According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), education is a fundamental human right that allows us to mitigate problems as serious as poverty, overcome inequalities and guarantee sustainable development.
However, to date, more than 250 million children and young people globally continue without access to schooling for social, economic or cultural reasons. In addition to this, the pandemic brought with it more difficulties in accessibility to education, among them were:
The lack of accessibility to technology (when modifying classes to distance models); repercussions on mental health derived from confinement; and the economic crisis, since many found it necessary to abandon their studies to start working at an early age and contribute resources to the home.
Given this, a Private Chinese American Phone Number List Assistance Institution (IAP) in Mexico is seeking to eradicate child labor through the marketing of bread and the support of socially responsible companies that promote this initiative. Get to know her!
Marketing bread to provide education
SEDAC or also known as Community Service, Education and Development IAP was born more than 40 years ago thanks to a group of volunteer women who noticed that fathers and mothers in the brickyard area of Ixtapaluca, State of Mexico, used their sons and daughters as labor for the production of partitions.
The objective of SEDAC is to help eradicate child labor and provide quality basic education, as well as good nutrition to children. Derived from this, the Bakery Workshop was created, which seeks to market bread to raise funds and support the cause; in addition to supporting the institution and operating expenses of the IAP.
Given this and in order to promote the sale of bread baked from the workshop, Corporativo Kosmos (CK) - the largest group of companies in Mexico in food services - has opened the doors of some of its headquarters in CDMX, for through its philanthropic arm, the Pablo Landsmanas Foundation , so that SEDAC can go to them and sell it to collaborators. Initiative they have called Bread Day in your Company .
SEDAC is in charge of marketing bread to help its educational program.
“The bakery is no longer a welfare system, but rather a small niche for generating resources. "I feel happy because we are a source of work, and we use the surplus to promote children's education and food."
Isabel Mejía, General Director of SEDAC.

“As employees we are motivated to support charitable causes, perhaps we cannot do it any other way, but with these types of events that they bring to us it is one way to do it.”
Verónica Hernández, capturist in the Call Center area.
The importance of supporting education from the private initiative
After the hard blow experienced by COVID-19 since 2020, and as the virus spread, many countries announced the temporary closure of schools, this affected more than 91% of students around the world. In April of that year alone, nearly 1.6 billion students were out of school.
The crisis further promoted child labor, a social problem that deprives girls and boys of their childhood. According to ILO data :
It is dangerous and harmful to the physical, mental or moral well-being of the child.
It deprives them of the possibility of attending classes.
It forces them to leave school prematurely.
It requires them to combine study with heavy, time-consuming work.

Faced with such a panorama, it is essential that companies intervene from Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). In fact, some of the actions that can be done, in addition to what CK has promoted, are:
The direct donation of resources to educational institutions.
The creation of projects to improve educational opportunities for minors.
Generate alliances with schools to offer scholarships that ensure the permanence of infants in school.
The implementation or support of educational programs.
Create foundations that focus on children and their education.
Campaigns such as those of SEDAC, and the participation of allies such as Corporativo Kosmos, are part of the solution to eradicate school dropouts in Mexico, since with their support they contribute to boys and girls having opportunities to build a better future, and that lack of resources is no longer an impediment.
